Ellen’s relationship with yoga started over 15 years ago, and it led her on a journey to Rishikesh, India where she received her 200Hr Teacher Training Certificate in Hatha Yoga.
Her flows are fun and challenging, playing with arm balances and inversion, but never forgetting to maintain attention to alignment and breath. Ellen has been inspired by her teachers such as Elena Brower, Ally Bogard, Gina De La Chestnaye, and Lauren Imparato. Her teaching reflects her learning and practice from these incredible teachers. In her own practice, she is currently learning the Primary Series in Ashtanga with Bibi Lorenzetti at the Shala House.
As a Pediatric ICU (PICU) nurse who is focused on providing Palliative Care and End of Life care to critically ill children, Ellen realized a need to marry her passion for yoga with work in the hospital. Working alongside Elena, she trained staff in the PICU at Columbia Children’s Hospital meditation techniques that created a calmness in the PICU and a closeness among staff and family. Ellen also volunteers as a pediatric nurse in international medical missions for NGOs who provide free and corrective surgeries to children born with facial deformities.
All these experiences have taught her the importance of being mindful, being present and most importantly, being human.
