I am the founder of Ourmala, an organisation that helps vulnerable refugees and asylum-seekers access the benefits of yoga in London.
I specialise in teaching women who have experienced atrocities such as torture, sexual violence in conflict, human trafficking and FGM (female genital mutilation).
Yoga is the centre of my life. I have practiced yoga since 1999, have spent extended periods in India and Europe practicing Ashtanga Yoga and Vipassana Meditation, have taught internationally, and qualified to teach with the British Wheel of Yoga’s BWYQ Level 4 Teaching Diploma. My greatest teachers include K. Pattabhi Jois, Hamish Hendry and Martin Aylward.
I have a Masters in Creative Writing, love nature, culture and politics, and I am a strong believer of yoga practice off the mat.
