About Emily Gilchrist

I recently moved to France in the sumptuous Loire valley, March 2014, to set up a long term vision of mine in running a sustainable retreat centre for healing and well being. Previous to here I lived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where I met my working partner who introduced me to the magical Chateau de Montgoger. I resided in Ethiopia from September 2010 to March 2014, teaching Yoga to a wide range of groups as well as conducting monthly retreats.

Whilst travelling through South East Asia, I attended a spectrum of Yoga classes and developed a keen interest in this ancient art. After recognising the benefits of my practice I was inspired to take the practice deeper and more diligently. This took me to India over ten years ago, where I trained intensively as an instructor at the Sivananda Ashram, Kerala. It was here that I studied and discovered the disciplines of Yoga and became fully connected to the then I have completed further courses in Yogic instruction through the school of Sivananda (Orleans, France), under the guidance of Swami Durgananda, Swami Kaislananda and Swami Krishnananda. I have also completed a basic intensive training course with Karoline Klebe in Ashtanga, Dubai, a TTC with Guru Sivam Gi, at his Siddhartha School of Integral Yoga, Dharamshalla, Northern India, a course of Kundalini and Mantra based Yoga with Swami Vidyanada (founder of the Sri Ma International School of Yoga) and have recently spent extensive time under the guidance of Usha Devi at her studio in Ram Jhual, Rishikesh.
