I trained originally with the British Wheel of Yoga and then went on to own and operate The Art of Health and Yoga, London's largest Complementary Health Centre from 1996-2003 where we created YogaBugs for children. We were lucky enough to appear on BBC2's Dragon's Den on 3 occasions and as a result YogaBugs is now in Australia, Singapore and China. I now teach around 14 adult classes to 150 people a week in and around Balham, Streatham and Dulwich and run 6 yoga holidays and retreats to overseas destinations for all yoga levels of experience.

I enjoy teaching fun flowing classes to all age groups and abilities. I modify postures for older adults and people recovering from injury or illness and have many years teaching pre and post natal yoga. I took part in a research project with Imperial College on the benefits of yoga and relaxation for pre-natal mothers. I also trained as a birthing partner. I work together with Wandsworth Expert Patient Group to support those who are caring for or suffer from long term illness.

I have found Nell a consistently fantastic and invigorating yoga teacher, with a gift for enthusing students and adapting for all abilities so they improve whatever their initial strengths and weaknesses, drawing people out at their own pace whilst still being ambitious in their poses. Most importantly her classes are very enjoyable and rewarding, and she herself is a joyful and generous person who genuinely cares about her students. I have also been on 2 retreats with her, both in beautiful locations and excellently planned, catered and delivered.

Yoga retreat in magical Morocco

I have just spent the most wonderful week with Nell on a yoga and trekking retreat in Morocco. Nell is a superb and sensitive yoga teacher as well as a glamorous, amusing and highly efficient travel companion. In two beautiful settings - the Kasbah du Toubkal in the Atlas mountains, and the Riad el Arsat in Marrakesh, she reinvigorated my yoga practice and invested it with new dynamism as well as feeding my soul at a time when I needed it most. I cannot recommend her too highly. Thank you Nell!

Best Yoga Retreat Ever

I'm just back from a 5 day retreat with Fenella Lindsell in Portugal and I am feeling a million dollars. I haven't practised any yoga for over 6 years so was a little worried about how I would get along. Nell completely accommodated my slower / stiffer pace and really helped me deepen my poses and build my confidence over the 5 days.

The standard amongst the group varied which for some teachers might be quite challenging but Nell kept the classes going brilliantly. She was very mindful of any restrictions people had and kept all standards completely included in what was going on.
Each session was varied and there was nothing repetitive at all. On the last day we finished with a fantastic session called Yoga to the Beat which was quite dynamic but great fun and highlighted how much we all had improved over the 5 days!
I have come back committed to keep my yoga up and will be attending her classes local to me in Balham.
I have also made some great friends on the trip and hope to stay in touch with them. Nell has a very flamboyant personality and is great fun to be around!

Don't miss a chance to practice yoga with Nell!

Nell has been practising and teaching yoga for about 25 years - she's one of the most popular yoga teachers in London. Nell combines expert teaching for all student levels with inspiring energy and charm and she provides a wonderful balance between body work and a sprinkling of spirituality, focused technique and great fun. She has such a wealth of experience to draw on and teaches a variety of styles. You learn something new at each class, there's never a dull moment and I always leave her classes feeling thoroughly well exercised and much happier.

I've been a regular at Nell's Tuesday 7.30 class for more than 2 years and am not sure how I ever coped without it! For me the class strikes the perfect balance - strenuous enough that I feel challenged and like I've had a good workout but at the same time I never feel pressure to go further than I'm comfortable with. Nell is an inspirational teacher; her classes are always varied and interesting and above all she never fails to inject some humour into her teaching.

I've also been on one of her retreats to Spain and would definitely go on another. I am quite prone to stress and often find it difficult to relax, but it's very rare that I don't leave her class feeling that bit more chilled out and ready to face the world. I really can't recommend her highly enough.

Best yoga teacher ever!

I have tried a few yoga teachers over the years but never truly "got it" until I started going to Nells' classes. Having gone from being a sporadic yogi I now attend one of her weekly classes and am booked on my fourth retreat. Her teaching is always challenging yet with the emphasis being on going at your own pace as well as having a spiritual element without being religious.

The retreats I have been on are a great blend of wonderful women (with the odd man on occasion!), fantastic locations (Yurts in Turkey/the Atlas Mountains), great food, a great sense of cameraderie and truly enjoyable/stretching yoga twice a day. I am always thoroughly rejuvenated after a retreat. Nell always seems to go the extra mile whether it be an extra session of "Yoga to the Beat" or the most amazing meditation session. I would highly recommend her and her retreats.

Well worth trying her class!

Nell is the first yoga teacher I had, and the best I've had. Although I have since tried other teachers, I always go back. Her classes are always varied and she explains the positions and their benefits which makes for a more interesting experience. I always leave her classes relaxed but energised.

Nell is simply brilliant

I was a complete yoga novice until about a year ago. Although quite fit, I was very stiff. I went along to Nell's classes and immediately felt included. She teaches different levels in one class and always gives options that are more or less strong. She is inspiring and great fun. I have been on two of her retreats and they were great fun with like-minded yogis of all different abilities. I feel that I have made great progress and that is all down to Nell. I cannot praise her highly enough.

Yoga with Nell in the sunshine is the highlight of my year!

I met Nell about four years ago and since then have stalked her yoga classes and retreats around south London and Europe - her yoga and her personality have become an indispensable part of my life and she is now not just my yoga teacher but a firm friend. She combines an authentic spiritual yoga feel with fun, glamour and a fabulous sense of humour as well as creating challenging dynamic classes for all abilities. I could not recommend her classes, her holidays or her more highly or with more admiration and affection.

Nell is quite simply the best yoga teacher I have ever had the privilege of knowing in my more than 25 years of yoga practice. She has an exceptionally outgoing and bubbly personality, which inspires and motivates while at the same time she allows one the necessary space to develop and grow one's practice from the inside out.

I love Nell's approach, which encourages you to accept where you are right now, while at the same time gently motivating and empowering you to take the next step, and in this way she caters to all abilities and age groups. Nell's teaching is as perfectly poised as her asanas, striking a perfect balance between the physical and spiritual dimensions of yoga practice. I have just returned from a 3rd retreat led by Nell, and I recognize them as the ultimate respite and antidote to a hectic and stressful 21st century urban existence. Again Nell gets it just right, she achieves that perfect balance between serious practice and fun - while the yoga is serious, noone takes themselves too seriously and everyone genuinely relaxes and has fun!

I love yoga because of Nell!

It is just about a year ago that I first heard of Nell and her classes. From the first telephone conversation of me informing her that I cannot do anything, I was inspired by her to try and succeed - she is always upbeat, friendly, has a laugh when warranted but always extremely focussed and knowledgeable in all aspects of yoga. She is happy to adjust the programme when needed and is in tune with her client. I miss her dreadfully when she is not around to provide a class and everyone I know has commented on much calmer, focussed I am since I have started. I cannot recommend her highly enough!

a class act...

I have not been a yogi for a long time (approximately 18 months) and do not have many teachers to compare Nell too. But my friend who recommended Nell's class tells me that of all the teachers she has had the world over - and she has seen a lot - Nell remains the best and I can appreciate why. Friendly, clear, fun, great voice, well structured, varied classes. I leave them feeling re-energised. My only complaint is that when Nell is away her replacements never match up.

Simply the best!

Nell converted me to yoga x16 years ago. I was a highly sceptical Physiotherapist who had spent a significant proportion of my clinical practise helping patients with injuries sustained during yoga practise!
Nell makes her classes fun & dynamic. She is very hands-on, making frequent adjustments & modifying postures as necessary for the yogis present. She teaches a wide variety of abilities & ages & regularly attends professional development workshops. She is so warm & welcoming & has a huge following as a result.
All her classes end with final relaxation, with a lavender eye bag, soothing music & inspiring text. Bliss!

Fantastic Yoga teacher

I have just come back from Nell's Yoga retreat in the Atlas Mountains - it was absolutely brilliant. Nell's enthusiasm and positive energy is infectious and she made the week both relaxing and great fun. She is an excellent teacher (I had never done Yoga before but am now hooked!) and a truly inspirational person.

Nell is an inspirational teacher.

Nell's boundless energy and sense of fun has made learning yoga such a positive experience. Nell's depth of knowledge of how the body works and of each person's individual needs means that I have every confidence that I will always get the most from yoga. I have been to Morocco on one of her retreats which was an amazing experience.

Simply the best!

Nell is a born teacher. I, too, tried other yoga classes but from the first moment I entered Nell's studio, I knew immediately that this was the place for me. No matter your experience, flexibility (or not), she is always encouraging and adjusting postures to your specific situation on that day. I have been on three of her yoga retreats and enjoyed every single one of them. Just cannot recommend Nell highly enough!

I've attended Nell's yoga classes for 15 years. She helped me relax and prepare for the safe home births of my children. I walk taller when I leave Nell's class; it's the combination of her humour, the 'mindful' things she reads and sometimes the physical challenge. Nell is a warm intuitive teacher who has the flexibility to know when you need challenging and when to help you out. Am always happy to bend my week around her class. Thank you Nell!

The best yoga teacher I've ever come across

I have tried many classes, but no teacher compares to Nell Lindsell. She is an inspirational person who has a genuine gift for teaching. Her class planning is very creative - I always look forward to see what the week will bring - no two classes are every the same. My practice has come on leaps and bounds since I have discovered Nell. And I try to go on one of her retreats each year - they are brilliant!

A tough act to follow!

Since I moved from London to Brighton almost two years ago now I've not found a teacher and class like Nell's to beat it. She's the best! Miss the Tuesday evening classes indeed. Such fun, as well as fantastic for body and soul. The style is perfect for any entry level as Nell really focuses on each person in her class and really motivates you. And her glasses are exactly the right length. I've found classes way too long and far too serious down here and looking still for a class similar to Nell's. I hope to drop in again to Nell's class in the near future, even if I do live in Brighton now!

Thanks Nell

I started with Nell in September on a weekly basis. I have never done yoga before, so it has been a learning and stretching journey, and we are not there yet! Probably never will be, but these are focussed but fun classes and enjoyable, all in Streatham so very convenient for me. Every week there is a slightly different twist (and I mean that most positively). Anyway, thanks Nell!

Simply the best!

I have been doing yoga with Nell for about 12 years now and I would recommend her as a yoga teacher simply because she is very good at what she is doing and also because she loves people
I love going to her classes as I always feel great afterwards and even if I sometimes do yoga at home whenever I cannot attend it does not feel like the same workout
she is very experienced with different age groups

Being a yoga teacher is not only being able to demonstrate and correcting poses it is also a "voice" and Nell has got is all
she is able to make your work hard with praise as you know you will be rewarded with a nice saying (proverb) at the end of class during the relaxation that will help to sooth the rest of your day!

Keep the good work Nell!

Nell is the best

I have been doing yoga with Nell for a few years and have been diagnosed with Parkinson's her class and retreats have been invaluable to me as has her sparkling personality. I can not say enough good things about her she takes time for each student her encouragement is fantastic and when I go for my check ups I am always told do not give up with this lady she works wonders for you.
