Honestly. I didn't want to start yoga. Yoga was offered as part of the physical arts curriculum in college for Massage Therapy. Tai chi, Qi Gong, were the other choices. My Tai chi teacher created a bias I will admit. He said Yoga was for girls, I believe sissies, was another word he used.
Luckily, I had an amazing yoga teacher. She enlightened me, made it fun, taught me yoga was a pathway to whatever spiritual path I wanted. While I did my second spinal roll, I realized this is the physical art I want to pursue. Everything became easier after I began yoga. My palms and hands were always sweaty (and subsequently I was embarrassed all the time). 90 minutes of yoga, once a week, for two months relieved this, sparking my curiosity and coming to love yoga.
