After 20-something years working a variety of demanding corporate jobs that left me empty and unfulfilled, I took the decision to re-train as a yoga teacher. I first came to yoga as a student in 2012, during a particularly difficult time in my life. Within a relatively short time, the physical and mental changes I felt completely transformed my outlook on life. Shortly thereafter, I decided to pursue a 200hr teacher-training program and qualified in 2014.
In 2015, I created Breathe:MK – a local service providing therapeutic yoga to anyone experiencing stress, anxiety, and depression. Having been touched by all three at various points throughout my stressful career, it was a natural progression for me to specialise in this field so I could share the proven benefits: that yoga provides a safe and credible alternative for people struggling with a mental health condition.
I love learning and have developed a fascination with the neuroscience behind yoga; I can get quite enthusiastic talking about the ‘how & why’ yoga works on the body and mind. At some point in the future, I’d like to develop my skills and take my training even further to become an accredited Yoga Therapist; however, for the time being, I’m quite content teaching therapeutic Hatha-based yoga to anyone who might benefit mentally and physically from this wonderful, holistic practice.
