I am an athlete at heart. From my early experiences with sports, through collegiate track and cross country, and finally to duathlon, triathlon, marathon and century plus cycling events, I have been in love with the physical challenge of sport. I enjoy honing the body, meeting new challenges and connecting with other athletes. Yoga asanas have so much to offer the athlete: strength building, increased flexibility, improved balance as well as injury prevention and recovery. These are wonderful gifts of a strong yoga practice and often enable an athlete to participate in sport with renewed vigor and strength resulting in improved performance. These are all good things, however, I was delighted to discover that the deeper, more meaningful and longer lasting gift of yoga lies in the place where the physical practice meets the quieting of the mind and the liberation of the spirit. From this place of body, mind, spirit connection, authentic life flows. Suddenly, you are living your yoga, elevating your life to a new level of beauty and fullness.
In the spring of 2011, I completed a 500 hour massage therapy program at Southeastern Institute of Massage Therapy. I am trained in Prenatal Massage, Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage and Neuromuscular Therapy Techniques. Massage Therapy is the perfect compliment to my work with yoga therapy as they benefit each other beautifully.
