I own and operate Team Yoga, a Bellevue-based company specializing in training athletes, teams, and executives to move beyond their current state and reach their true potential.

My work reduces injury, speeds recovery, extends careers, teaches concentration and keeps clients "in play" rather than sidelined. Our elite executive training focuses on leadership, communication, adaptability, management, awareness, and creativity.

For almost 20 years I honed my skill set in athletic coaching. From the NCAA Tournament to the Orlando Magic. From a Year with Bob Knight at Indiana while earning my Master, to a stint as a Clinician for Converse. I've been blessed to learn from the best and it has been a fascinating journey.

My body had taken a battering from sport and in 1999 Yoga called to me. I have, since that time, been a committed student and teacher. When the teacher is properly trained and the practice is properly conveyed there is no better complete system.

My yoga training was raised to the next level in 2003 when I began study with world-renown "teacher of teachers" Aadil Palkhivala. Four years later (2007) I graduated from the College of Purna Yoga under his direction and continue my studies today while also teaching at his studio, Alive & Shine Center in Bellevue, WA.

I'm a certified Purna Yoga™ teacher at the 2,000-hour level. This level of training is ten times (10x) the norm in my industry and my training is unparalleled. I'm therapeutically trained which means I am able to assess, address, and assist those with injury or dis-ease.

I am registered with Yoga Alliance as an RYT-500 and E-RYT 200 and with the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT). My workshop experience ranges from Yoga Journal conferences to the Omega Institute, to Tel Aviv, Israel.

Gordon is great.

Gordon is a great yoga teacher. I love listening to his stories (and pulling his leg). I initially started yoga as therapy for my sciatic problems. I've found that there's something really deep about yoga!

Visualize and feel without judgement

Gordon is great yoga instructor. I find his fine tuned asana descriptions and adjustments extremely helpful in visualizing myself going into and maintaining the postures. Gordon has helped me to improve my practice.

Great teacher!

I have been a student of Gordon's for slightly over two years. I came to Gordon after a shoulder separation. He safely integrated me into the class (of more advance yoga students) paying particular attention to my injury. I appreciate Gordon's frequent adjustments on my form and helpful suggestions to work on in my self practice. I also enjoy Gordon's holistic view of yoga and his insights beyond the physical practice. I look forward to working with Gordon for many more years!

Great teacher! Love his classes

Gordon is very detail oriented, knowledgeable, loves to share his knowledge and thoughts. His classes are a joy as there is always new detail, new food for thought. Never boring. He has great sense of humor too!

Experienced and Technical

I feel "safe" while learning Yoga from Gordon. He explains the technical background and provides anatomical information to the class. He pushes my Yoga envelop without the EGO factor.

Definitely would recommend Gordon to anyone, new or experienced Yoga students.

Gordon is an amazing instructor. As a Purna Yoga teacher, his background is steeped in a rich tradition and lineage - resulting in an instruction style that is extremely informative and profoundly enriching. Gordon's classes will challenge you in ways you may not expect - his precise language and instruction will encourage real progress in your practice. As a long time student of Gordon's, I confidently suggest you join his class for mental, physical and spiritual benefit. Your mind will be interested and present in your practice...your body will be engaged in safe, traditional and enriching postures...your heart will be lightened by humor and simple meditation practices.

A teacher @ another level (from a teacher who is grateful)

I have had the pleasure of taking several private lessons from Gordon at Alive & Shine Center in Bellevue. I actually discovered him by recognizing his avatar picture (inner athlete) on yoga forums .com If you want to spend a few days learning some serious yoga knowledge I recommend you "type on" over there. Gordon has been training since 2003 directly under Aadil Palkhivala.

Aadil is often referred to as "the teacher of teachers" and trained since the age of 7 with the late BKS Iyengar in India. For those of you that do not know the significance of that lineage please google it.
Gordon not only brings many years of yoga training to the table but also his 20 years as a professional athletic coach and his vast knowledge of anatomy and kinesiology. Gordon is a teacher that SEES the subtle nuances in his clients and can deduce imbalances and physical issues from his acute observations. He then devises a program to help resolve the issues you may have. (Often times they were not really what you thought they were.)
He likes to utilize the wall ropes system which is a powerful Iyengar based tool used to help a variety of different issues in the body. It is also feels amazing to be able to go upside down in a protective manner. Gordon's demeanor is very easy going and he has a great sense of humor which is often helpful when you are working very hard on a painful area. Yet, simultaneously, he is a very compassionate individual who "gets" the spiritual and integral side of yoga as well. He is extremely well spoken, well read, and takes great pains in saying exactly the proper words - a trait I find rare in today's world. If you are in some sort of pain, and/or want to learn a great deal about your body AS WELL AS yourself, I highly recommend a trip to Bellevue to learn from this amazing teacher.

A teacher's best reward ...

... is the connection with and praise from a student they have worked with. Thank you Jennifer for sharing your experience with others so that they too may find what they need.

Of note is that my use of the Yoga Wall is for efficacy for the student rather than something I "like" - though I do find effective tools preferable over les effective ones:-)

Gordon is one of the best yoga teachers i have taken classes from, he is very knowledgeble and very mindful about any injuries you may have. He gives you instructions so you don't hurt yourself further and suggests asanas to heal yourself. I leave the class feeling grounded and rejuvenated. It's a pleasure to be in his class.
