Yoga Griot
Seeking to facilitate your story…

yo•ga - /ˈyōgə/
Noun - "to add", "to join", "to unite", "to attach"

gri•ot -/grēˈō/
Noun – “poet”, “musician”, “storyteller”; “steward of tradition” [West Africa]

Greg brings an open and light hearted approach to the practice of yoga. He considers himself a yoga guide; rather than impose his practice on others, seeking to facilitate the individual’s practice; to encourage ownership, and to honor the pace at which each person embraces the challenges and triumphs put forth by life.
Greg’s roots are in Ashtanga yoga, beginning his practice in 1998. He began instruction in a corporate setting in 2002 and later developed a special yoga program at a non-public school for students with Asperger Syndrome and other special needs. Based on the overwhelming evidence of the benefits of yoga, the program was adopted school-wide and continues today. Having completed a 200 hour Yoga Alliance certified program, Greg teaches yoga in studio, corporate, and private settings. He also holds a special certificate from Pamela Hollander’s “Indigo Yoga” for children.
Greg is influenced by the love of Sufism, the practicality of Buddhism, and the science and wisdom of Patanjali’s Sutras. He believes that the path is wide and varied.
Greg enhances the yoga experience by tapping into primordial rhythms…playing live music on Native American wood flute, percussion, cello, singing bowl, and chant.
Greg’s clients come from many walks of life. He has had the privilege of working with and learning from octogenarians and school age children; cage fighters and cancer fighters; Purple Heart veterans of Vietnam to PTSD sufferers of Iraq; individuals with scoliosis, traumatic brain injuries, MS, fibromyalgia, and amputations. Surfers, football players, soccer players, gymnasts and ballerinas have shared the mat with bicyclists, marathon runners, and many, many of those with a seeking spirit; those trying to make the mind/body connection and the introspective students of life that have placed themselves on “the path”.
