After 20 years of being a fitness enthusiast and personal trainer, I came to yoga in 1998 because I thought it was important to stretch - I just didn't know what was going to be stretched! I have scoliosis and wore a back brace as a teenager. I was fortunate to be sent to a very progressive physical therapist who had me doing many of the things we do in yoga to become stronger in the core and more flexible to correct my curvature. Yoga relieved the pain in my hips and shoulders caused by the scoliosis, and it has brought so much more balance into my body and mind. I feel like I have come full circle with my understanding of what it means to be truly fit and healthy.

In 2001 , my incredible teacher, Genevieve Crosslin, encouraged and prompted me to teach yoga. I owe a debt of gratitude to her for leading me to this path of teaching and practicing - a beautiful combination for me. Besides studying with Genevieve, I consider Mark Blanchard and David Lipschutz as major influences in my yoga. I have attended many workshops with Doug Swenson, Max Strom, Bhavani Maki, Kim Schwartz, David Williams, Govin Das, Bryan Kest, Jeffrey Cohen, Mark Whitwell, Anna Forrest, Tao Porchon-Lynch, Rama Jyoti Vernon, Desiree Rumbaugh, and Keith Crosslin.

My teaching is an honest and true expression of what I feel and learn in my own personal practice, combined with what I have learned (and will continue to learn) from others. The greatest teacher we all have resides inside ourselves. Yoga can teach each person how to tune in and listen to their own voice, as well as how to learn from it.

I am a lover of sacred geometry, alignment, energy modalities, and spiritual practices, and it is my passion to share these.

I believe yoga is for everybody and every body, and encourage each person to work at his or her own level and be happy in the practice, wherever that may be, on any given day. I teach with a gentle spirit and a lot of love, sharing my passion for yoga.

Gretchen is the real thing

Gretchen Robinson really lives her yoga. She doesn't just teach an exercise class, she. Although her classes are strongly rooted in alignment and knowledge of anatomy, she also brings a sweet spirituality with her wherever she goes. Gretchen is a scholar of yoga and she uses her yoga classes to help others heal their bodies and achieve physical mastery.

A Teacher for Body, Mind and Spirit

Gretchen and I started yoga about the same time. It was obvious to anyone from the beginning that there was something special about her practice. That was some 15 years ago and she was my teacher at nearly daily practice more than 10 years. Despite the fact that I no longer practice regularly, I still consider her a close friend and confidante. Gretchen taught me most everything I now about yoga and yogic principles. Yoga became a huge part of my "therapy" after the death of my husband at a young age. She opened my eyes to spiritual realms and concepts I never knew existed. She took my body to places it never knew existed!

True yoga the way yoga is meant to be.

Gretchen is an amazing teacher. Her classes are known to be "hard", but she emphasizes the importance of doing what you can and how each person is on their own journey. She reminds us not to sacrifice our bodies to "get in the pose". The classes are always different and she mixes it up with partnering and breathing exercises. Her studio also offers many opportunities to expand spiritual awakening. I have seen many positive changes in my life just by doing exactly what she says in yoga class. She is a Yoga Gift to all,

The ultimate yoga teacher

All I know about yoga, I learned from Gretchen. She taught me it is a practice that is on going. I have known her over 12 years and she is as beautiful on the inside as on the outside. She truly cares about her students and wants them to be healthy and peaceful. In the above evaluations, she demonstrates the pose as well as explaining how to get there. So I left the ball in the middle of the lines. She is both body and spiritual focused so that is in the middle too.

You will get strong AND flexible with Gretchen

Gretchen approaches the practice of yoga in a no nonsense, "no music, no mirrors, no props, no levels" fashion, that is always fun and different every time. Her approach builds strength and flexibility by allowing each student access to all of the poses.
She has great insight into the areas where students need work, both on and off the mat. Gretchen has a great love for the practice of yoga and her students. She has created a loving and caring community in her studio.

Strong Practice, Great Energy!

It's been a LONG time since I've taken Gretchen's class - more than 9 years! But back when I lived in Kansas I'd attend her classes - and often, because they were always challenging and I LOVED her energy.

Simply the best

I have been a student of Gretchen's for more than ten years. Her classes are fun and funny sometimes. Her classes are spiritual most times. Her classes are challenging all the time; and she is always reminding you that you are beautiful and doing exactly what you should be doing as long as you are breathing correctly. Her teachings work on the mat and more importantly, off the mat. There is no one better.
