Since I was a child I was fascinated by movement and manipulation of the body. This lead me to a long and successful career in the sport of artistic gymnastics. I took my first yoga class over ten years ago in Minneapolis, USA while I was still competing in my sport; I very quickly discovered the positive effects it had on my body and my mind! I continued to practice after retiring from gymnastics and throughout grad school, finding it to be a rewarding challenge and an important respite from the stress of work and school. After receiving my degree I moved to Reykjavík, Iceland, where I coached gymnastics and worked as a yoga instructor (I received my 200-hour certification at my old studio in Minnesota).
My vinyasa classes are primarily movement-based, devoting much of the practice to a single action with every inhalation and a single action with every exhalation. Years of experience coaching gymnastics has provided me with excellent tools to lead practitioners safely into some of the more "acrobatic" poses as well, approaching each pose in steps and offering tips to build up to them. In addition to vinyasa, I have a great deal of experience teaching yin yoga - a practice that is decidedly based in stillness. Balance is the key to life, after all!
Yoga continues to have a positive impact in my life and I am honored to be able to share it with others in my new home of Malmö!
