Gyani is a skilled practitioner and accredited instructor of SATYANANDA YOGA® which incorporates traditional Hatha Yoga systems. For 10 years, she immersed herself into a yogic lifestyle whilst living and training in yoga ashrams around the world, including 3 years living at the source of Satyananda Yoga at Rikhiapeeth Ashram in India. This invaluable experience has brought a depth to her teaching that you can only get from living and breathing all the aspects of yoga at the source. She completed her 2 year Diploma in Yogic Studies and Satyananda Yoga Teacher Training, at the Satyananda Yoga Academy in NSW in 2009.
Her personal journey with yoga began in 2005 when she was recovering from chemotherapy and radiotherapy received for Hodgkins Lymphoma. After stumbling into yoga whilst travelling in New Zealand, she started practising yoga daily and began an incredible 10 year journey to health and wellbeing. Although in recent years she has battled with chronic fatigue, Hashimoto’s disease and Ross River Virus, and appreciates the challenge of continuing your practice through chronic illness. Having become so dependent on practices such as Yoga Nidra and simple meditation techniques in the last few years, she now focuses mainly on teaching these practices and hopes to inspire those who also suffer from chronic illnesses.
She is available for private sessions and can create a tailor made personal practice for you to practice at home. She teaches Mindful Yoga, Classical Hatha Yoga, and Meditation and Yoga Nidra classes.
