I began practicing yoga over 15 years ago to combat anxiety and stress and avoid medications (not fond of them). What I found was that I loved the quieting of the mind that I experienced on the mat so much that it became a regular practice for me. I was later inspired to further develop my own yoga practice after a serious car accident, caused me to rethink my priorities!
So… I researched yoga schools in the area and chose to enroll in the Transformational Yoga Teacher Training at The Sanctuary in Plymouth under the guidance of Michelle Fleming ERYT 500. where I was blessed to have studied under such inspirational teachers as Leslie Kaminoff author of Yoga Anatomy & founder of The Breathing Project; Chip Hartranft, Author and Director of The Arlington Center; Daniel Orlanksy; Jennifer Yarrow, co-founder of the Thai Yoga School of New England. The training itself was a wonderful experience that I would repeat in a heartbeat. I also found during my training that I really loved the warmth of all those I met in the yoga community, and as a result this community has become a second family for me.
I am a 200hr Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance and certified in Yin Yoga and Thai Yoga Massage. In my classes I incorporate the movements and techniques from these disciplines and more into class, to make them fun and challenging. My classes are open to all levels of practice and tailored to meet the needs of all students but with a strong emphasizes on proper structural alignment. This gives my students a firm foundation on which they can build their own practice.
A few of my teaching Mantras:
“True teachers are those who use themselves as bridges over which they invite their students to cross; then, having facilitated their crossing, joyfully collapse, encouraging them to create their own.” – Nikos Kazantzakis
“I never teach my pupils, I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn.” – Albert Enstein
“If you want to learn something, read about you want to understand something, write about it. If you want to master something, teach it.” – Yogi Bhajan
I am currently working towards my 500 hour certification through The Sanctuary Studios in Plymouth. I continuously seek out new inspiration through readings and and continuing education workshops.
I honor the Divine, the light and love that shines in you as it is also within me & together we are one, Namaste
