After dabbling in yoga for many years, a stressful work environment in NYC drove Ilana to discover the potent power of a regular yoga practice in 2007. She soon fell in love with the practice as a means of reconnecting with her body and unwinding her mind. She credits yoga as her inspiration to uproot and move to Ithaca, where she started teaching in 2011.
As a licensed massage therapist, Ilana believes strongly in the power of simply feeling good in the body. She brings to her classes an emphasis on alignment, kinesthetic awareness and developing sensitivity to your bodies own unique wisdom in order to find pleasure in each movement and breath. Using a combination of the invigorating and surrendering aspects of yoga, she helps students receive the the therapeutic benefits of building strength and flexibility of both body and mind.
In her classes you can expect an invitation to practice dynamic presence and compassionate self observation. She sees the yoga studio as a place of safety and freedom where we can practice being our most empowered, loving and awesome selves.
Originally from Brooklyn New York, Ilana is an E-RYT 200hr and received her Teacher Certification from the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox, Massachusetts. In 2012 she graduated with 1000 hours of training from Finger Lakes School of Massage and has done further studies in Thai Yoga Massage and Biodynamic Craniosacral Work.
