Irma has been practicing yoga for over 15 years and has studied with a variety of teachers. Her classroom practice began in New York City on Sept 11 where she discovered the healing powers of meditation, chanting and community during devastating circumstances. Since then, she’s been an advocate and proponent of the benefits of a yoga practice to anyone who would listen. xuntas – the place to gather, a rental studio she founded, has become the outlet for this.
As a trained and practiced psychic and energy healer, Irma sees beyond the material and physical illusion of our realities. Recognizing truth and beauty, she sets the tone and intention for all activities so that safety, validation and transformation occur with amusement. Her yoga teaching style is comprehensive, fluid, intuitive to participant needs and accompanied with energetic musical vibes. She creates a safe, playful, exploratory environment for yoga participants of all levels, incorporating Spanish and Sanskrit interchangeably.
With over 20 years in corporate Human Resources roles, frequently leading teams and facilitating strategy setting meetings, Irma has the awareness of team evolution phases and their needs. This, coupled with her 15+ year yoga practice beautifully blends the gross and subtle qualities of human learning and growth into one playful and fun experience - perfect to tailor and lead a team building session of any kind.
One year in Mexico City, she gained experience practicing under the guidance of teachers in Spanish. Through various yoga retreats and workshops abroad, over the years she’s broadened her practice in an array of styles including classes with many master teachers including Tias Little, Sean Corn, Shiva Rea, Eoin Finn, Aadil Palkhivala, Wade Gotwals and more.
With Chicago as her home base, Moksha Yoga has been her primary practice studio. Here, she has access to close tutelage by Lindsey Levin Labkon and apprenticed with Lance Hoagland and Lani Granum. Moksha Yoga is where she completed a Yoga Alliance 200 hour Teacher Training Certification with Daren Friesen (her teacher of 10+ years) the Classical, Astanga style of yoga. She continues to deepen her personal practice of self discovery with studies and a daily meditation practice, tuning up the vibrations of her own energy.
