Jay Kalathil immigrated from India in 2000. He started practicing yoga, Ayurveda, and meditation at a very young age at his home in Kerala, India. He is a regular yoga practitioner and a spiritual seeker who pursues the path of knowledge (Jnana Yoga). He studied YOGA from Yoga Gurus from Bihar School of Yoga, Yogaville, Temple of Consciousness (SKY), SVYASA, Life in YOGA and Om Yog Sansthan.

In 2003, Jay formed MUKTHI Yoga Group and start offering yoga classes on every Sat and Sun at Durga Temple, FairFax Station, which is still going on. In 2014, he started teaching yoga at ChinmayaSomnath in Chantilly, Virginia. He is an active volunteer of Life in Yoga foundation () and a board member of South Asian Military Family Support Network ().

Jay is very knowledgeable and experienced yoga teacher. I have been attending his class for very long time and learned so much. I realized that I have not only gained physical benefits from his class but grown spiritually with wisdom to understand the daily aspects of life.

Jay teaches yoga at its true purpose

My husband & I had been learning yoga and meditation from Jay for the past 10 years.
He knows the true purpose practicing yoga which is a method joining the individual self with the Divine, Universal Spirit or Cosmic Consciousness. He engrained in each of us yoga is a union of mind, body and spirit. He is wonderful human being and a tireless dedicated teacher.

I am grateful to you both. Last 15 years you have supported me in hosting great YOGA masters from India at your house. You have always supported me in conducting YOGA workshops for the benefits of community members. I have tremendously advanced in my spiritual journey from our discussion group based on Jnana and Bhakti Yoga. Not many people are interested in and invested time in core yoga. You both were vested many years in bringing positive transformation in your life. Your commitment and perseverance are truly inspiring.

True Yogi with spirituality

Yoga means to connect with God.
He is par excellence in demonstrating and teaching asan's (exercises) combining with spirituality - in depth information of all asanas. The best teacher.

I appreciate your kind words

I am passionate about sharing my experience in search of true YOGA. The majority are deceived by believing yoga means “asana” (physical postures). I am glad that you have the right understanding of YOGA. Union with our True Self alone will remove all problems in life. As long as we believe, and live as this “Body-Mind-Personality”, problems are unavoidable. The moment we recognize/accept, my true nature is “infinite-conscious-existence” these changing “Body-Mind-Personality” problems will dissolve because it is unreal. This is not a philosophy; it is very much experiential for each one of us through a systematic method.

Covers all aspects of yoga!

I have been attending classes with Jay since Summer 2017. At each class he guides you through every step which always helps me draw my awareness to the practice and correct myself. His unique approach connecting one’s spiritual pursuit with the yoga practice has been most beneficial to me. It has helped me rekindle and sustain spiritual thoughts on a daily basis. His practice of yoga is not only comprehensive but goes beyond, to truly integrate knowledge and methods from a wide variety of sources and masters. Dedicated, Personable, Caring

Jay is an amazing yoga instructor who teaches how to achieve balance in life. He is so generous with his time and teaching Yoga for free. I have been attending is classes for over 10 years. I can tell you his teachings have had an impact on my life. I used to have anxiety and borderline high blood pressure. All of that is gone. I can honestly say I owe my good health to his teachings.
