I love yoga. I started reaping the benefits of this ancient art and science as a teenager in the 70s using it to help manage the stress of balancing school and work. The deep rewards I experienced stimulated my yearlong journey to India where I spent time at the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Pondicherry as well as many other places in India, Nepal, Thailand and Bali exploring the Eastern Philosophies of Yoga and Buddhism.
Today, I am a teacher and Yoga Program Director at Wellness by Design in Petaluma. I am registered with Yoga Alliance and certified as an Integrative Yoga 500-hour Advanced Professional Yoga Therapist. I have been practicing and studying Yoga since 1979 and teaching since 1994. My teaching encompasses extensive experience as a Bodyworker which brings forward a deep understanding and love of form, alignment, and anatomy. I combine that knowledge with my continued studies in yoga. I give acclaim to my foundation teachers Kate Pelly (Iyengar), Ian Rawlinson (Desikachar) and Joseph LePage (Integrative). I also have been deeply influenced over the years in classes with, and teachings of, Erich Schiffman, Scott Blossom, Richard Miller, Anodea Judith, and Judith Lasater.
My intention is to transmit the great joy, understanding and well-being that yoga provides for our body, mind and spirit.
For 10 years as Founder and Director of BodyWorks Integrative Yoga and Stress Management Center (2003-2013), I received much pleasure and fulfillment from owning and operating a studio that was dedicated to offering a sanctuary for people to come practice Yoga in its wholeness of the 8-fold path, as illuminated in the ancient Yoga Sutra text of Patanjali.
I created a premier 200 hour Affiliate Integrative Yoga Teacher Program for Northern California at BodyWorks-Integrative Yoga and Stress Management Center in 2005, and am very proud to have graduated 7 years of well-trained teachers of the Integrative style.
I offer regular weekly classes and private yoga therapy by appointment.
