Jennifer discovered yoga over ten years ago while exploring ways of coping with panic attacks. It wasn't long before she was hooked and her regularly occurring bouts with anxiety disappeared.
Jennifer’s initial yoga teacher training was in Viniyoga - a form of Hatha yoga which emphasizes thoughtful sequencing and the adaptation of poses for a student’s individual needs. While she has grown to embrace other traditions and styles (she draws inspiration from master teachers such as Barbara Benagh and Judith Lasater) her classes are still grounded in some core Viniyoga principles, such as using breath as the basis for movement and mindfully practicing according to ones own needs and abilities (rather than attempt to achieve a perfect looking pose). Jennifer now holds a 200 hour-level certification through Fitness Resource Associates (a Yoga Alliance approved training program).
A mom of two, Jennifer is also trained in pre-natal yoga and is a certified HypnoBirthing Practitioner (The Mongan Method). Passionate about natural childbirth, she integrates the philosophy and techniques of calm, gentle birthing into her pre-natal yoga classes. She is a certified Reiki II practitioner and enjoys exploring energy healing and the body’s chakras (energy centers) through her yoga practice.
