Growing up Jess was always fascinated with the idea of Eastern teachings, and finally at the age of 18 she found herself at home on a yoga mat. In 2011 Jess completed Wilmington Yoga Center’s 220-hour Kunga Yoga Lifestyle and Teacher Training with Kristin Cooper and has dedicated herself to teaching ever since. Over the years, yoga has fueled Jess’ desire for constant discovery of the unknown and taught her to live true to her heart. Since 2009 she has taken her practice around the world and lived seasonally on the Outer Banks where she eventually reconnected with her long time friend, Katie, and co-founded Village Yoga in Duck, NC. Jess is infinitely grateful to her teachers Kristin Cooper, for teaching her the power of non-violent communication and to move in a way that makes her soul dance; Noelle Cavenaugh for always reminding her to laugh on the mat; and Larry Hobbs, for introducing her to such a sacred practice and for being an authentic connection to the Ashtanga lineage, which will always be at her roots. Jess strives to create a spiritually and physically progressive, yet fun, practice that challenges her students to unlock their ultimate potentials and strive for their highest selves. Jess is currently working towards her 500-hour certification through the Kunga Yoga School at the Wilmington Yoga Center. She is a certified 5Elements Vinyasa Flow teacher and has also studied with Kathryn Budig, Michael Johnson, and Tiffany Cruikshank. When she’s not on the mat you can find her in the ocean riding waves with her friends or searching for beach treasures with her dog, Waylon.
