Jo teaches a style of Hatha Yoga she lovingly refers to as Joga. She uses her soft voice and gentle essence to calm the mind while teaching an invigorating class. She believes that a challenging sequence can help bring balance to mind, body and spirit.
Jo is a native Texan who began teaching Yoga on the beautiful island of Guam in 2003. She holds a in Interdisciplinary Studies and is a Registered Yoga Teacher, RYT-200. She taught mainly on US military installations prior to coming to Wimberley in 2007. She is focused on balancing the asanas (Yoga poses) rooted in strength with those that find basis in stretch. She believes in the detoxifying aspects of Hot Yoga and prefers the refreshing feeling one gets with a sweaty practice. For Jo, focus and peace begin on her yoga mat.
Jo’s favorite pose is Goddess Pose (Utkata Konasana) because of its playful nature while also being a total-body pose. This pose stretches your hips, groins and chest while strengthening and toning your core, quadriceps, inner thighs, shoulders, arms and upper back. Regular practice of this pose can bring confidence and vitality.
