Julie started practicing yoga in 2003 to help relieve stress and increase flexibility. While living in Bloomington, IN, she experienced vinyasa, ashtanga, pranayama, and restorative classes. She fell in love with the creativity of vinyasa flow and the structure and focus required by an Ashtanga practice. She discovered that not only did yoga relieve symptoms of stress and allow her to touch her toes without strain, but it boosted her confidence, opened her heart and mind, and brought her joy. Inspired by the benefits she received from this practice, she wanted to share this with others. In 2009, Julie completed her 200-hour Teacher Training and is enrolled in the 300-hour Teacher Training Program at Yoga on High currently. She has a PhD in health behavior and is a registered dietitian nutritionist. She believes yoga and eating healthfully are complimentary through the practice of mindfulness and cultivation of prana in the body. Off the mat, Julie loves to run, road bike, and cross bike. She credits yoga for healing her body and prevent injury in these activities. She hopes to help her students build their own self-awareness and confidence through yoga.
