I discovered yoga after leaving competitive gymnastics at age 14, with an overabundance of flexibility and energy I didn't know what to do with. Yoga seemed the antithesis of the high-impact, risk-riding sport I obsessively trained in all my life to that point, but my learned discipline and body awareness found deep rest in the practice. I practiced throughout my teen years, until at age 19, I began my Teacher Training with YogaFit. I later finished certifications through AFAA and the Yoga Alliance, and have taught around the world, from the shiny floors of the University of Southern California gym, to the leafy jungles of Costa Rica, to the rich red soils of Kampala Uganda. Yoga is my daily spiritual practice.
My teaching mantra is exploration with alignment, both mind and body. My background in fitness and anatomy has made me a stickler for safety for my students, but there are plenty of ways to get creative without compromising the body's integrity. I am a hands-on teacher and generous with adjustments when I can be, and I think it's important to highlight yoga's non-physical wisdom in my classes as well.
