Sat Nam! Welcome to Araiza Yoga & Ayurveda. I'm Karen May, Kartar Kaur (Lioness of God's Deeds). I am a certified Kundalini Yoga teacher and Ayurvedic Counselor, and I believe in the power of Kundalini Yoga to transform lives! I took my first Kundalini Yoga class in 1987, and have been teaching since 2004 as a certified instructor, honoring the tradition of Kundalini Yoga & Meditation as Taught by Yogi Bhajan®.
I have taught in many different settings, in public and private classes, various states & countries, customized classes for various populations, and have led many workshops on various topics related to yoga, meditation, yogic philosophy, and ayurveda for healing, personal and spiritual growth.
My classes weave themes of energy anatomy, global events, finite & infinite integration, neuroscience & physics, emotional processing and the healing journey with the tradition of Kundalini Yoga & Meditation as Taught by Yogi Bhajan®. My style provides a thematic context and explanation of the energetics of each exercise, as well as clear physical instructions. Fascinated by modern physics & neuroscience, I marvel at how science is finally catching up to what the yogis discovered so long ago, and I often share scientific interpretations of ancient yogic ideas in my classes.
Also certified as an Ayurvedic counselor, I often integrate lessons from this ancient Indian healing science into my classes. I create a safe space to release the creative energy within you. Though it's been about 30 years since I started practicing, I still find new layers of meaning and awakening every time I practice!
I also enjoy singing with kirtan band Akasavani and love to share my love of sacred mantra music!
I offer Ayurvedic consultations to help you determine your ayurvedic "dosha" or constitutional type, and recommend diet, herbs, and lifestyle suggestions to help balance your physical and mental health.
