I am a former elementary-school teacher turned full-time yoga teacher. I have worked at Paz Studios for the last 2 years, teaching vinyasa-style, restorative, and yin based classes. I have recently began teaching yoga part-time at Wake Forest University to the students and faculty.
I am certified in children's yoga and use my knowledge of child development and education to inspire children to lead a healthy lifestyle by moving, having fun, and taking chances. I have taught kindergarten, second and fourth grade in my previous career as a school teacher. I work with students aged 3 to 16, using yoga to inform students of how to become aware of their emotions and deal with stress in positive ways.
Children learn to be free to express themselves in a fun way using yoga poses and gentle stretching. In children's yoga we incorporate story telling to weave a sequence of poses together. The students learn through the main characters how to deal with realistic situations and overcome obstacles in their own lives.
