As a long distance runner, Kathy Hammonds found her first yoga class to be the missing piece to her fitness repertoire. Suffering from chronic over use injuries and low back pain, yoga balanced her body and healed her. She noticed that other parts of her life came into balance as well. She had a greater sense of calm and her relationships had more ease. After a debilitating car accident, she began to delve deeply in the anatomy behind the poses in an effort to find a safe and effective practice that would lead her to complete recovery. These days she trains teachers and students to find a fluid pattern of movement that protects the joints while stretching the muscles and connective tissue and quieting the mind. In 2012, Kathy completed a 500 level Aryuveda course to expand on her degree in dietetics. She brings her four-year shamanic apprenticeship into her practice with energy work that clears the subtle energy bodies of her clients removing unseen obstacles for a more efficient process.
She brings her unique style of yoga and movement to students of all levels, ages, shapes and sizes. Her clients have include individuals of advanced age, Parkinson’s, Cerebral Palsy, Athletes, and individuals suffering from chronic aches and She has been teaching for over 15 years and training other teachers for over 4 and believes it is a blessing to be able to bring people the gifts of a strong body, a quiet mind and a blissful spirit.
