Katie McKenna is a certified yoga instructor hailing from and currently residing in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. She has been practicing yoga since 2009.
As the daughter of a physiotherapist and having worked as an assistant in clinics for much of her younger years, Katie was introduced to the world of physiology and healing at a young age. She brings with her years of experience in healthcare, but also a deeply rooted passion for community development, holistic approaches to health, wellness, and recovery, as well as environmentalism.
With a passion for all facets of physical activity, having been a competitive highland dancer, and a dedicated soccer and rugby player, Katie was particularly drawn to the physical embodiment that came with practicing yoga. Having an educational background in socio-economic, humanities and culture, Katie wields her daily practice as the keystone to kindness, her connection to the community, and a better understanding of the world around her. With a penchant for comedy, Katie’s teaching style is down to earth, friendly, and personable.
