In 2009 I began my personal journey with yoga after trying other workout methods and still felt that something was missing. The philosophy of yoga and of it being a practice--a path of continuous growth really resonated with me. As I began to explore yoga the positive effects filled those missing areas in my life and I fell in love. After just a few classes I was hooked and since then I have trained and continued training. I was trainined in a hybrid of Hatha, Vinyasa, & Ashtanga. I further studied Vinyasa flow, anatomy, meditation, and breathing techniques. I am passionate about yoga and I believe in its benefits. My goal is to create a comfortable environment for students that meets them where they're at, gives them what they need, and supports them into feeling successful after each session. I teach a wide variety of classes and the ultimate goal is always to smile and laugh ourselves into new poses and accomplishments. The best part of yoga is that one is always learning and overcoming obstacles. These obstacles make for a stronger mind, body, and spirit and that excites me! I also hold a degree in Psychology from Illinois State University and I have training in Nutrition Counseling as well. I love working with students in small group classes and also really enjoy working with students in one on one or two on one (duets) to utilize all of my knowledge and experience to develop a customized plan to meet particular needs. Yoga is wonderful in a group setting, but it also is one of the best personal coaching modalities. The therapeutic benefits of yoga are great for working out injuries and general pain. Yin Yoga, Rejuvenation style yoga, Yoga Nidra, meditation & breathing techniques are perfect for clients working through illness, pain, fatigue, anxiety or stress. Advanced yoga moves, inversions, handstands, headstands, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, & faster paced or more challenging Yoga sequences work well for building endurance and strength. Yoga is a true asset to runners, marathoners, & athletes of all types working toward their fitness goals. I am available for personal coaching sessions as well as skype sessions!
