I have been practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga for about 10 years under the compassionate guidance of Andrew Eppler, Bryce Delbridge and Sri BNS Iyengar of Mysore. I turned to yoga in 2007 to cope with stress and anxiety as an undergraduate Physics major, and through devoted practice have found near-miraculous healing in many areas of my physical, emotional and mental health. (You can read a longer practice biography here) A regular smoking habit, excessive use of alcohol and the terrible regiment of sitting at a computer desk for 15 hours a day had done quite the number on my body and mind. Though I couldn't touch my toes or competently do any of the poses of the primary series in that first class, the deep and rhythmic breathing and the flowing movements of the series continued to bring me back day after day. Having always been a seeker of mystery and a lover of philosophy of all types, the more I learned, the more I wanted to know about this "yoga." Over the past 10 years I have passionately studied the philosophy, and devoted myself to daily Asana and Pranayama practice. I continue to marvel at the beautiful impact that this method offers for seekers of all kinds. I completed my 200 hour RYT training with Andrew Eppler after he asked me to give back to the community by teaching, and I have since found a whole new way of learning through guiding others into devoted practice.
