"I play to create and create to inspire." As creator of Peace Retreat, Kevin McQuillan, also co-founder of Real Evolution Yoga, has built a yoga and wellness centre founded on the principles of holistic healing and balance. "It was a dream that started in Canada. I wanted a place for people to reset, recharge and realign."

Kevin's personal journey is as inspirational as the energy of Peace Retreat itself. As a teenager he lived a high risk life that can only be described as Russian roulette. "When you face death in life, sometimes you see things very clearly," Kevin says openly. "One day, I remember clearly stopping at a crossroads and saying to myself. 'Turn left and I stay and turn right I am leaving'."

Needless to say Kevin turned right that day. While working as a Civil Law Enforcement Officer in 2003, Kevin was introduced to yoga and quickly discovered the benefits of creating balance between body, mind and heart.

Since then, he has practiced and studied various styles of yoga with a focus on vinyasa flow, eventually co-founding Yogadown Studios in Calgary, Alberta in 2006. A year later Kevin co-founded and co-developed the Inspirational Yoga Teacher Trainings blending his love of yoga and passion for human development into a unique leadership and teacher training program. "I am passionate about yoga, connection, the dance of life and the possibility in it all.

From 2007 to 2012, Kevin co-facilitated Inspirational Yoga programs in Canada, United States and Costa Rica. He began participating with Baptiste Yoga in 2009 and worked closely with Baron Baptiste from 2010 to 2012 as Program Team Manager and Production Supervisor at teacher training programs.

With adventure and a need to live life to the full Kevin moved to Costa Rica intending to open a retreat on the Caribbean coast. But as the old saying goes "Sometimes on the way to your dream you get lost and find a better one."

And the better dream was on the shores of the Pacific coast in the small, dusty but wonderfully inspirational town of Playa Negra. In 2010 Peace Retreat was born. "My dream for this place is that for however long someone stays, when they leave they can tangibly feel both inner and outer strength, flexibility and peace."
