I have been practicing yoga for over 6 years now and honestly, I am so incredibly thankful for it everyday. I grew up most of my life as a dancer and didn’t know it at the time, but dancing was my yoga back then. Getting lost in a dance and finding freedom in the movement and music was beyond amazing to me. Since So You Think You Can Dance didn't exist when I was younger, as I got older I started to move away from the jazz, tap, and ballet classes that were so much a part of my life. After high school I decided on the University of Pittsburgh for college and it was there I found a new yoga in live music. I was introduced to what would become my favorite band in the world (I still travel to the ends of the earth to see them today) and realized that I could still get completely lost in the music, dancing, entirely present, without any thoughts outside of what was happening in that moment.

Since as long as I can remember I have been an over thinker. I always carried around a lot of stress and worry and thought that was how I was and that I would just have to live with it. Enter had tried it a couple of times but it was after my first Vinyasa Flow class that I knew I was home. Immediately I was reminded of my roots in dance combined with that feeling I get when I’m seeing my favorite band. It was freedom to me…and I was reminded of that and fell instantly in love that very first class.

I have always felt that inside I had this artistic soul waiting to come out. I don’t paint, write poetry, play an instrument (just started learning how to play guitar!), or any of those things you typically associate with “art”. What I came to find is that through yoga I found my art. I found a creative outlet that also gave me the opportunity to share what I loved and something that has made (and continues to make) a profound impact on my life everyday.

My classes place an emphasis on proper alignment, connecting with the breath, and moving freely with mindful awareness. It is my hope that my classes serve as a moving meditation, a break from the stresses of everyday life, a place to let go of anything and everything in an effort to just be. My goal is to encourage students to lead with their heart and find a balance between strength and surrender on their mat that they can then take with them and apply to everyday life. I received my 200-hour Hatha/Vinyasa certification through Namaste Yoga Center in Ocean Beach/San Diego under the guidance of Elka Haeckel. I have also completed a Restorative Healing and Yin Yoga Training with Debora Wayne. I am currently registered through Yoga Alliance.
