Hello! I'm Kristina. I've been a serious student of yoga for over 6 years, and have been teaching for 2. I completed my yoga teacher training in 2013 at Blue Lotus LLC in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Initially, I was drawn to the grace and beauty of Vinyasa Yoga, and was moved deeply by the inner strength I found when I was able to connect body and breath. It was through this practice that I realized the power of that Prana life force, and how all things in life stem from it. Over time, I discovered the incredible healing power of Restorative Yoga.
When I first began practicing yoga so many years ago, I viewed Restorative as boring- something reserved for the injured or weak. Boy, was I wrong! As I'd later come to find, Restorative is truly a transformational practice, one that has increased my vitality, lowered my anxiety, and to some degree, shaped my general demeanor in life- for the better! Restorative has even helped me combat my severe allergies by calming my central nervous system and lowering cortisol levels! I would say that while Vinyasa is and always will remain my first love, I am married to my Restorative Practice.
My approach to yoga is this: do what serves your highest self. Leave your ego at the door and forget about what a pose "should" look like, or how you're "supposed" to feel doing it. What's right for you is not necessarily what is right or SAFE for me. And that's perfectly okay. At the end of the day, we come to yoga because it helps us in some way, shape, or form. If at any time we find our practice is doing more harm than it is good, it's time to make a change.
I teach yoga because I have seen first hand how life-changing the practice can be, and to be able to pass that gift along to someone else, the way it has been passed on to me is a true honor. My goal as a yoga instructor is to maintain a safe environment in which self reflection and transformation can take place.
In my spare time I enjoy being outside, running, hiking with my dog, gardening, and throwing dinner parties. Be my friend and let me feed you.
