Co-owner and Principal Teacher at One Family Yoga & Fitness, Lainie believes that it is important to let go of the identities that we take on in the world (Mother, Yogi, Father, Sister accountant etc) while on the mat. It is a time to strengthen the body from the inside out through Asana (Posture), to connect to the breath to open the body through conscious breathing (Pranayama) to calm the mind with Meditation. Time for self. Lainie teaches to the individual, she guides you gently in and out of each pose regardless of your experience with yoga so that you always feel, comfortable, confident and successful.
Lainie’s interest in movement began as a dancer and she was later certified as an International Aerobics and Pilates Instructor. After 20 years in this world, these interests led her towards yoga. Lainie discovered yoga in 2002 while living in Chile, South America and practiced profoundly for the following three years in the Iyengar and Astanga methods attending daily classes and Workshops. She completed her Internationally Certified 200 hr Level One ISHTA Yoga Training in Australia in April 2005. Lainie returned to Chile to continue teaching yoga but decided to further her yoga training by returning to Australia this time to complete the 300 hr Advanced ISHTA Yoga Apprenticeship in 2006, taught by internationally-renowned Rachel Zinman. Over a period of nine months, this integrated course allowed Lainie to be taught and at the same time, teach what she was learning.
Since then, Lainie has furthered her Yoga studies in Pre and Post-natal Mums and Bubs Teacher Training with Amanda Ried founder of Samadhi Family Yoga, Toddler and Children’s Yoga with Gopala founder of Rainbow Kids Yoga, as her focus became more family orientated and how she could integrate yoga into her family life with the birth of their first child Sofia in 2010 and now Nicolas in 2013.
