Laura Calhoun DIvides her time in between NYC and the Milford Aera.
Her bodywork practice and teaching methods draw on the various trainings and philosophies she has studied in her world travels.
In Belem do Para Brazil, at the age of 18, Laura found and fell in love with the Philosophy and ancient texts of yoga. Years later she graduated the Shiatsu School of California and continued studying Eastern techniques of Zen Shiatsu and meditation in Japan and Germany in the late1980’s. She studied Qi Gong under master Yan Fukui from 2006-2007, and in 2013 she encountered the heart-centered teachings of Alan Finger and completed 500 hours of Yoga Teacher Training at ISHTA yoga, a center for Hatha, Tantra, and Ayurvedic studies and practice.
Laura believes a yoga practice should be simultaneously vibrant and relaxing, generative of harmonious energy flow while increasing inner strength and the power of the body to heal itself. She offers pranayama, acupuncture, massage, meditation, and movement methods in order to create space for a student to find opportunities for physical and spiritual fortitude.
