About Laura Flanagan

Laura discovered Yoga as part of her Fitness Training background back in 1992. She has been practicing yoga ever since and has been teaching since 1997. In 2004 she received her 200 hour RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) certification and in 2015 received 500 hour RYT. She has studied under many great Western teachers including Seane Corn, Shiva Rea, Barron Baptiste, Judith Lasater, Gary Kraftsow, Mark Whitwell and many others. More recently, Laura had the opportunity to train with the grandson of the greatest Guru from whom all present-day lineages of Yoga come - Krishnamacharya. His name is Kausthub Desikachar - the son of TKV Desikachar who is father of Viniyoga. In April of 2015 she made her first pilgrimage to India.

Yoga has presented Laura with many gifts through her years of practice. She has found that it has offered her exactly what she needs when she needs it. She relates well to the Yoga Sutras and teaches her classes with the ancient scriptures always in mind. Laura's yoga teaching incorporates both a Yin style of holding poses along with Vinyasa, moving with the breath.

In addition to her vast Yoga Training, Laura is also a certified Yamuna Body Rolling instructor and trains with Yamuna on a regular basis. Body rolling is a form of self release using a 9 inch ball.

Laura teaches and inspires. Yamuna Body Rolling was my introduction and my gateway to yoga with Laura. She is a searcher, a giver and she touches many lives. Bottom line she is an awesome yoga instructor and person.

Complete package

Laura is a very experienced and balanced teacher, combining extensive knowledge of the body with a deep appreciation for the spiritual aspects of yoga. I leave her sessions feeling as if I've just had an anatomy lesson along with a meditation session, and always happier than when I arrive. I have gotten a lot of both healing and growth out of her classes and recommend her very highly to anyone seeking all the benefits of yoga.

Great teacher. Authentic asanas and pranayama.

Fulfilling class, dovetails creative and effective asanas based on advanced training and personal practice, often transcending the usual run of the mill poses. Highly knowledgeable about anatomy and physiology from both analytical (scientist) and experiential (personal trainer) backgrounds. I am often surprised at the results I get from a class from Laura, because it didn't seem like we were doing that much.

Laura Flanagan is the BEST!!!

I have taken yoga from Laura Flanagan for the last 10 years. She is truly the best! I have tried yoga from many different instructors and I always come back to Laura. WHAT I LIKE BEST: Laura asks at the beginning of every class if we have any injuries and suggests modifications for that person; introduces us to new mudras each month; keeps us abreast of good yoga related community activities (ie: Bhakti Fest) and most of all makes each one of us feel we are right where we need to be physically...no judgment. We are blessed to have her here in Madison, WI.

Laura is the best of both worlds

Laura has a perfectly balanced approach to yoga which is as spiritual as it is physical. She explains poses and flows in a way that is easy to follow and makes you say, "OH! That's what this is supposed to feel like." There are no gimmicks with Laura. Just a pure love of yoga and sharing it with all her students. She is warm, kind, and takes a genuine interest in the development of each person in her class.

I frequently thank the universe that my first introduction to yoga was through Laura, because I'm not sure I would love it as much as I do now if not for her. I've not yet found a teacher that I like as much in the 5 years since. To be honest, when I moved to Seattle a few months ago, my only fear was leaving Laura, and not finding a teacher that is as amazing as she is. On a personal level, she is a strong lady (inside and out) and an inspiration to everyone she meets.
