Lea began her professional career as a modern dancer and choreographer in NYC. From 1986 to 1997 Lea’s choreography was presented in the NYC area at various curated venues, like DIA Center for the Arts. From 1987 to 1998, Lea danced for choreographers such as Joy Kellman, Lee Nagrin and Peter Pucci, performing at the Joyce Theatre, La
Mama, etc., other NYC theatres and internationally.
Lea is grateful to have been able to study Yoga and Meditation with some of the kindest modern Masters. Her early influences were from classes at Jivamukti Yoga Studio, from Dharma Mittra and classes at Dance Space Inc. Lea received Tibetan Buddhist teachings in NYC from 1989 to 1995 and in Dharamsala, India in 1995, taking New Years teachings. In 1994, she was first certified as a Kundalini teacher. Lea studied Ashtanga Yoga with Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India in 1997. In 1995 and again in 1997 Lea was certified to teach the gem-like system of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan through KRI. Always continuing to learn, she was certified as a Hatha Yoga teacher at her Guru’s Ashram in 2002.
Lea often participated in forums she presented at her own PRANA
MANDIR Yoga Studio. She began studies in traditional Ayurveda in 2006 and continues as a student and faculty member at DINacharya, Institute for Ayurveda. Lea was granted membership into IAYT (International Assoc. of Yoga Therapists) in 2010 and has written for their
publication.
She founded PRANA MANDIR Yoga in 2002, opening of a NYC studio on 59th Street. The studio offered classical Vinyasa and Kundalini Yoga, and was the first center in the to present Ayurvedic courses through AYU by Kerala Ayurveda. PRANA MANDIR Yoga’s direct outreach
programs often involved research into the application and effects of Yoga. Lea mentored teachers and lead group and private instruction at Beth Israel Continuum Center for Health and Healing, and various programs at St. Lukes Hospital, such as a Diabetes Prevention program.
In 2004, Lea developed a Vinyasa Yoga 250+ hr. training, which is still held yearly in NYC, and in 2012 in Missoula, Montana. Agni, first offered in 2001, is her Yoga therapy higher learning course for teachers and
healers of all lineages. Agni is a Kundalini Yoga Intensive, covering Chakras, Nadis, the subtle body and the path of awakening through Kriya Yoga. Both trainings are vibrant investigations into mind, body and
spirit.
Lea lives currently in Pasadena, California. Her own practice begins with chanting and meditation in the tradition her Guru teaches. Lea feels blessed to share these pure Wisdom teachings. She gives Master
classes, Retreats and Teacher Trainings nationally. Passionate about offering alignment principles for the physical body as well as the inner most Self, her classes are dynamic and flowing, encouraging each
student's practice as a wise, joyful path.
