Leanora (Lea) is an experienced yoga teacher and outdoor team-building facilitator. She integrates wellness practices, experiential learning and outdoor fun to connect, heal and strengthen our hearts and communities.
Her teaching journey began after college in 2005, as an Outward Bound Instructor with Baltimore & Philadelphia Urban Centers. While college life rallied around social justice and Outward Bound wilderness expeditions challenged her on the trail, Yoga was the movement bringing peace to her busy mind and anxious heart. Since her first class in 2000, Yoga has been her primary stress management tool. Seven years later she began sharing the practice with others; earning her 200hr. yoga teacher certification through Yama Therapeutics with Diane Finlayson, E-RYT 500.
Leanora's yoga journey continues to grow through regular personal practice and yearly trainings. YoKids…Stretch Your Limits, Yoga for Arthritis, Acro Yoga and Prana Flow Vinyasa are just some of the additional approaches that influence her adaptive teaching style. She enjoys working with a diverse spectrum of students including (but not limited to) corporate yoga classes at Johns Hopkins and Kennedy Krieger, church congregations, women and juvenile detainees of the Baltimore City & Chesapeake Detention Centers, Meadowbrooke Aquatic Center, Baltimore Yoga Village and the 29th Street Community Center.
Leanora's enthusiasm for integrating community wellness, experiential education & outdoor exploration was inspired by her BA in Urban Studies from Eastern University. She recently earned her Occupational Therapy Assistant degree, dances regularly and continues to explore nature through occasional Outward Bound facilitating and personal outdoor adventures.
