Leila has developed an increasing interest into mysticism and the unseen at an early age. She is a dancer at heart and has always been a lover of movement which lead her to teach dance for a little while before coming across yoga meditation. On a summer day of 2009, the inspiring work of Swami Sivananda was introduced to her after a Reiki exchange circle. It is then that her yogic path first started through bhakti yoga (devotional practice) and karma yoga (selfless service) for many years studying under the great guidance of Swami Shankarananda, in Montreal, Canada.
Meanwhile, her love for movement along with her desire to delve deeper into her own healing journey prompted her to look at the role integrative holistic healing modalities play into treating psychosomatic illness manifestations. Therefore, her curiosity inspired her to seek an education in yoga, fitness, psycho-education, holistic lifestyle coaching, Reiki, herbalism, and addiction counseling. With an emphasis on internal perceptions, she tries to combine all of these aspects into her practice to the best of her abilities.
She had the privilege to learn from Kanti Devi and Swami Sivadasananda, both direct senior disciples of Swami Vishnudevananda. Leila has also had the honor to study with the knowledgeable Swami Dayananda and Swami Premamnanda who, along with Kanti Devi, gifted her with the name: Jaia Devi.
Leila Jaia Devi aims to hold a non-competitive, trauma sensitive space in her classes. Among st many… she believes that learning is a never ending work in progress and she sees you all as beautiful teachers along the way!
