Lilly found yoga her senior year of high school, when a dance teacher incorporated sun salutations into a dance warm up. She loved how yoga opened up her body and prepared her to dance. In 2012, Lilly left her hometown of Haverhill, MA and ventured down to Towson, MD to Major in dance at Towson University. In Towson, she began practicing at Sid Yoga Center regularly. A dance professor advised her to get certified to teach yoga as supplemental income for her dance career.
The following year eager to deepen her knowledge of yoga Lilly began her 200 hour teacher training at Sid Yoga. She learned that yoga entails more than physical asana. She expanded her knowledge of yoga to include philosophy and a new way of being. When students come to Lilly’s classes they receive her contagious happiness. She encourages students to go beyond their perceived limits both on and off the mat, release fear of failure, and open to possibility.
Lilly’s favorite yoga pose is dancer pose because she feels it represents who she is dancer and yogi in one posture. Outside of yoga Lilly works towards her dance career. She feels her knowledge of dance gives her a unique perspective of yoga. She sees not only each pose in the class but also the transition between poses. Vinyasa means flow and she sees this flow as a dance each of us does on our mat.
