I have practiced w/Linda for over a year. I knew nothing of Yoga. She was patient and helped me over time to control and ease my pain through Yoga. Each persons practice is as individual as they are and she recognizes that. I left her studio refreshed and ready to seize the day. She knows Yoga. It has been her life work and it shows.
Linda is an excellent and helpful teacher.
Linda is a great teacher. She has the ability to mix humor with knowledge. I learned more in 6 months with Linda than the previous 8 yrs.
I am very thankful our paths crossed.
I had never really enjoyed yoga before taking Linda's classes. She does an excellent job of explaining every detail of each pose, so I actually understood how to do them properly. I would recommend her for all levels of practice, and her classes are so enjoyable it always feels like they end too soon.
Linda is expert at guiding many levels at one time. She really knows her stuff.
Linda is an incredible teacher that draws many to her practice. She is knowledgeable on the poses and true to yoga. I find her to be sensitive to the needs of those in the class and offers options depending on level of comfort. She offers insight to the spiritual aspect of yoga and encourages exploration. I highly recommend Linda and have heard nothing but good things about her.
Linda is a Respectful, intelligent, thorough, sensitive, intuitive, creative, educated, experienced and LOVED YOGA TEACHER!
Positive, calm, supportive. Linda is very knowledgable about the body and works well with all skill levels. She helps all continually learn and understand the yoga principles and poses. She was greatly appreciated as an instructor during her time as a yoga instructor in Monmouth, Oregon. Highly recommend Linda!
I have been a student of yoga for many years, and for the last 2 years I have taken yoga several times a week with Linda Coulson. I know that I am not only one in her yoga classes to feel a unique relationship with her because she creates that atmosphere.
Her yoga classes have mushroomed in size because we all feel, not only more flexible, stronger and have more balance, but, more importantly, Linda has created a space for us where we can experience inner peace and accept our bodies' ability, yet push it little farther each time.
Her knowledge of the body's anatomy and how we use our muscles doing various yoga poses amazes me. Linda would both demonstrate and explain, and then give us the time & space to practice. She individualizes instruction even for her large classes of 25 people, and provides variations so everyone can get the most from each yoga pose. She helps us recognize & accept our individual strengths, but she is careful to only have us push or stretch without pain. She'd often said, "No pain, no pain," which is her yoga variation of the familiar gym adage of "No pain, no gain." She makes us realize that yoga is a "journey" not to be experienced the same by anyone, and, even though she taught group classes, yoga is done individually according to our individual abilities of our bodies.
I have never practiced yoga with anyone more spiritual than Linda (except in my own practice). She is a life-long practitioner of yoga, and, for me, she imparted the right balance of the physical with finding inner quiet & peace. I especially enjoyed the way she approached meditation, beginning with relaxation &/or visualizations, which always ending in peacefulness. Usually we would have meditation at the end of each class (but not always), and she would prepare us by having us focus on our breathing and then personal observances of our bodies, and finally feel an inner peace & then meditation (my favorite part--ahhhh).
I feel that Linda has expanded my yoga practice immensely!
I've practiced yoga for 40+ years. Linda is, by far, the best instructor I've ever had. She has an uncanny knack for knowing how to keep each student in safe practice yet challenged. She is balanced in her instruction, both demonstrating and explaining. She is friendly and approachable for both introverts and extroverts - she exudes peace. She adjusts individuals as appropriate. She is deeply spiritual and also body focused. As I said, she is the best yoga instructor I've come across. I highly, HIGHLY recommend her.
Linda was every thing I had hoped to find in a yoga teacher. She is a highly skilled teacher. Her direction in class was spot on. Linda spoke us through each move and breath. She also has a quiet humor which I found delightful.
I have been enjoying Linda's yoga practice at the Monmouth Fitness Center for several months. Her approach is friendly, and balanced with professionalism. She knows her students and is sensitive to adjusting positions for any special needs or challenges students may have. She also routinely walks around and suggests or helps with adjustments as needed for all students. She is highly experienced and shares her expertise with the class in a gentle and encouraging manner.
We work very hard, but we have fun. She challenges us to try new things and encourages us to do what we can comfortably do, as well as giving us a little push to challenge us. She is both body focused, in terms of explaining what and why we are doing individual poses, but she also emphasizes the spiritual benefits of our practice. I will miss her when she moves on, and recommend her without reservations as a yoga instructor. I would happily work with her again.
Linda is amazing. She has a tremendous knowledge base to work from and she effortlessly provides options for various ability levels. She creates a comfortable and accepting environment. She laughs easily and I really like the relaxation portion of the class. It seems to me that no two classes are the same.
Linda is a very friendly, thoughtful, experienced yoga instructor. In many ways, I see her more as a mentor or guide. She teaches by example, showing the correct way to do moves, and explains and shows modifications to fit each person's level. She encourages you to challenge yourself, but to be comfortable and safe at all times. It's obvious she brings an inner peace to her practice and she opens the door for a person to join her on that journey or stay in their own world. She never comes on too strong. She also brings a sense of humor and lightness to the studio. It feels okay to laugh and joke about yoga. I would highly recommend Linda to anyone looking for an excellent yoga guide/instructor.
Linda does a wonderful job explaining, demonstrating, and leading practitioners of all levels. She has a keen awareness of the body and of differences between bodies. Her classes are challenging and invigorating. If I could, I'd be there every day.
Linda is one of the most considerate and giving yoga teachers I have come across in my years of practicing yoga. I truly appreciate that she is so giving of her time and explains everything. In her classes she takes care to address individual needs and concerns. I wish I had the time to particiate in all of her classes, and I hope she will particiate in more yoga workshops in the future. I look forward to learning more from her. She has been a blessing!
Linda was the first person I practiced yoga with. I have fallen in love with yoga after learning from Linda. She does an excellent job of teaching beginners, while at the same time providing more challenging options for the seasoned veterans of yoga. Yoga with Linda makes my entire body feel like now it can exceed it's potential.
Linda is a wonderful yoga teacher. She is very thorough in explanations of poses, and gives always gives demonstrations. She asks her students if they want to be adjusted before doing so. Linda is mindful of her students' injuries, aches, and pains and always gives options for students who need modifications. If you want to be challenged in your yoga practice, and grow both physically and spiritually, go to Linda's classes.
Linda is a wonderful teacher & her new studio is very quiet & welcoming. She is encouraging and offers help with both your mental & physical/technical practice. She can make a class work with multiple experience levels. She has introduced many new things to my practice & I feel very fortunate to have found her for my teacher.
Linda is an exceptional instructor. She adjusts her classes to meet the individual meeds of her students AND remembers what those needs are! She gives very clear, thorough explanations but will demonstrate a pose or transition as needed. If a student is comfortable with adjustments, Linda will help him/her correct the pose with a hands on approach or demonstrate and describe the adjustment if the student is less comfortable.
She identifies skill levels and gives options within a pose to benefit each student. I am incredibly flexible and she would give pointers to deepen my practice while allowing the other students to have their best experience as well. I found her to have a good balance of physical and spiritual. She offered workshops that centered on the more spiritual aspects of yoga and during her regular classes she would invite is to set an intention. She is a master teacher and incredibly knowledgable about yoga, its history, the human body and the spiritual components that enhance ones connection to the world. I would very highly recommend her for even the most experienced yogi.
Linda's yoga instruction has the perfect balance of explanation and demonstration to make the practice accessible to all levels of practice. She provides information that allows individuals to make adjustments when needed, or to take alternate poses in a timely manner. She is consistently encouraging myself and classmates to listen to our bodies in how to execute poses or take variations and in pacing our flow with our natural rhythm. She is willing to offer helpful adjustments after she asks permission to do so. Although I have been practicing for years, my practice has noticeably improved since I have begun practicing with Linda. I feel lucky to have found her class!
I have been learning from Linda for a year and can honestly say that she is the best yoga instructor I have ever come across. Grounded, centered and very well educated.
I have been attending Linda's yoga classes for over a year. She is a very experienced teacher with great attention to individual needs. She has a variety of classes and is very in tune with her students. I highly recommend her studio to anyone, she is wonderful to work with.
I can't say enough positives about Linda. She has a thorough knowledge of yoga and Eastern meditation which she incorporates into each class. I learn new things each time. Her classes are planned and thoughtful with a great flow. I appreciate her adjustments as it makes a huge difference.
They are not too frequent and she always asks permission to touch and explains what she is doing. She has a great knowledge of anatomy and muscle groups...She can figure out the cause of those back aches and shoulder tensions and help. She is able to push us but never to the point of injury. She offers poses at multiple levels for beginner to advanced. She always offers modifications as needed.
You will always get individualized instruction from Linda.
We have gone to about 6 or 7 yoga instructors and she is by far the best we have found.
Linda is an amazing teacher. My first experience with yoga was with Linda. In my first class, I did not know the blessing I received in having Linda as my first teacher. I did know enough that my body and spirit craved the renewal her classes provided, and I kept returning. Linda gently and safely guided me to strength and flexibility.
Linda carefully creates an environment that is comfortable. I always experienced a welcomed acceptance. I was able to feel secure enough to drop my driven-ness, and accept each pose as the perfect pose for me for that moment.
Yoga with Linda immeasurably benefited my life. I am grateful. I recommend her classes.
