Lissa’s healthy, yoga lifestyle did not happen overnight. After years of battling health issues from high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes to migraines, anxiety and depression, Lissa decided enough was enough. Prayers, research and a dose of courage led her to her first yoga class. She’ll tell you it was love at first down dog. Needless to say, she was soon hooked. Her yoga practice became as necessary to her daily life as breathing and transformed her life – mentally, physically and spiritually.
Four years and one yoga teacher certification (200-hour yoga teacher training) later, Lissa left her 17-year career as a regional design and construction manager with a communications company to pursue a deeper understanding of life and true happiness through her yoga devotion and take time to do some world exploration. Lissa is humbled to share her love of yoga with her students. She delights in the smiles and joyful tears that come when a student fully surrenders and releases into a pose discovering the potential of their body, mind and spirit. Her biggest joy is witnessing the resulting self-confidence and self-love her students experience.
Born in Georgia and raised in Pensacola, Florida, Lissa loves living near the ocean and you can often find her playing with her little loves at the beach – her grandchildren – Jackson and Juliana – or even trying to surf. Her family is her heart and when she’s not spending time with them, she enjoys running, Zumba and staying active. She’s also passionate about giving back to her community through volunteering and supporting various local charities, and dreams of finding a way to integrate yoga into the healing process for abused children.
