I’m very passionate about health, wellness, collaboration, joy and being your best YOU and I’m constantly seeking it out, sharing what I learn with others, and when I see people getting excited by that, it’s even more exciting…there’s nothing more fulfilling than giving to others. Hard work, dedication, right intention, and simply showing up to our mats, beyond the poses or expectations—it’s this exchange of energy between teacher and student, from one kindred spirit to another, that keeps the ancient tradition of yoga alive.
Yoga is a personal journey and what most resonates with you depends on your own unique personality. I learned the graceful gentleness of accepting where you are in life and that your body can respond differently on any given day. You learn the most from your practice when you’re free from judgment or comparison.
As a teacher, we’re simply sharing our practice and we don’t make it about ourselves; we make it about the practice of yoga and all the many benefits we each gain when we practice yoga correctly. Because teaching allows us contact daily with people and have an interest in who they are, it helps me teach from an intuitive place where I invite them to explore their own authentic self. Yoga is ultimately about coming back to the self, and as a teacher has the ability to help students on their journey back home (to themselves).
Influenced by my teachers, peers, environment and travels I aim to bring a unique sense of empowerment to each of my classes. Through intention, meditation, pranayama, and asana my goal is to have my students leave each class feeling refreshed and renewed.
I teach in a way that provokes thought and meaning, letting the student experience for themselves through careful planning and energy reading. My classes are always challenging physically and mentally, delivered in English and Sanskrit with uplifting music, including demonstrations and hands on assistance.
I guide students to recognize the place of peace within each of us, and I help them feel grounded and safe. I work with students of varying levels, including children, men and seniors. I lead my classes with an earthy, grounded demeanor, and I maintain a soothing voice to guide my students throughout their practice.
I have been practicing and teaching fitness classes, yoga and meditation for the past 20+ years in particular teaching individual private sessions, small groups and large groups (3–40 people).
I have over 800 teaching hours, and my training is in Hatha Vinyasa Yoga with a foundation in meditation, as that was the style in which my teachers were trained. My personal practice includes many different styles, including Vinyasa, Yoga Nidra, Restorative Yoga, Yin, Acro, Silks, Kids, Partner and Flow Yoga, and I incorporate different elements from those disciplines into each of my classes.
I have also trained with Les Mills Australia, renowned experts, and I learned to incorporate the healing powers of Pilates and Tai Chi into my classes. BODYBALANCE® is the Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates workout that builds flexibility and strength and leaves you feeling centered and calm.
I am a certified advanced level two yoga teacher, registered with the Yoga Alliance, and I am currently working toward my chakra certification for continuing development.
