I discovered yoga after having my second baby. Yoga calmed my anxieties and helped me begin to live a more balanced life. In 2007 after giving birth to my third and last baby, I entered the national body-for-LIFE challenge in an effort to lose the pregnancy weight. To my surprise and delight, after losing 28 lbs in 12 weeks through healthy eating, exercise, and sheer determination, I won and was named the 2007 Body-for-LIFE grand master champion. This began my fitness and wellness career. Over the next few years I traveled the as an EAS and Body-for-LIFE champion, spokes modeI, and motivational speaker. I eventually published a book, Transformation Journal, and opened up my very own wellness company in Las Vegas through which we helped numerous clients achieve amazing results in their quest for a healthier and more balanced life. Having personally experienced the benefits of yoga and Pilates in my life, in the summer of 2011 I embarked on a new journey and qualified as a yoga and Pilates instructor. I have been teaching ever since accumulating over 1500 hours of teaching experience over the past 5 years.
In 2014 I came across a book entitled ASANAS by the legendary Sri Dharma Mittra. I was captivated by this guru who has made it his life mission, devoting over 50 years of his life to sharing yoga with the world. I decided that I wanted to meet him personally and study under his tutelage. Thus, on my birthday in 2015 I visited his studio and participated in my first Dharma Yoga class. I have since returned to The Dharma Yoga Center in New York City on two occasions and taken several of his workshops and teacher trainings.
Working as a crew member at the Yoga Journal Live! conferences I have been able to take classes and workshops from world renowned teachers like Rodney Yee, Colleen Saidman Yee, Shiva Rea, and more . Over time, my style has evolved and includes aspects from Iyengar, Vinyasa, and yin. My classes are usually a Hatha flow sequence of postures, very much focused on breath and alignment, incorporating relaxation techniques, pranayama and meditation.
I like to make my classes accessible to all, from beginners to advanced, and thus I prepare them to be fun and inspiring, encouraging everyone to be their own guide, to let go of personal judgements and trust their bodies and their intuitive voice. This will nurture a positive attitude and leave you feeling energized and blissful.
