I began the practice of yoga in 2009 while serving in the Air Force. At the time, the practice was not consistent but I practiced with my unit, through the P90X videos and at the gym. After I left the service, my husband pushed me to truly give yoga a chance. His thought was that I could find healing if I made it a daily practice and took it further than just the physical.
In I decided to practice yoga consistently and found some videos online. I began to practice Ashtanga with Jodi Blumstein. Although the classes were online, I felt a great connection to this discipline of yoga. I began to find a tremendous amount of physical and emotional healing. I also found that I was growing closer to my spiritual practice.
I could not believe that simply connecting my breath with my body would make me feel alive and relieve a lot of my physical pain.
I completed my first yoga training through Yoga Fit and later attended/completed a 200 hour intensive at the Miami Life Center under the guidance of Kino MacGregor and Tim Feldmann. I have also completed a Warriors for Healing training led by Marine veteran and executive director Yusra Kauppila at the Miami Life Center. The training focuses on guiding our veterans and their caregivers as well as others who have suffered from a traumatic physical/emotional life event. In 2017 I completed Aerial Yoga teacher training under Dawn Brooks in Panama City Beach, FL.
I have attended workshops with Sharath Jois, Saraswati Jois, Dice Ida-Klein, Briohny Smith, and Irene Pappas. I have practiced under the physical guidance of some wonderful teachers like Caroline SanJuan Czubaj, Jessica Nicolosi, Elodie Madewell, Peter Snyder and Vanessa Johnson.
Some of the teachers I practie with regularly online through yogaglo are Jodi Blumstein, Kathryn Budig, Jason Crandell, Elena Brower, Amy Ippoliti and Taylor Harkness.
My teaching experiences include Ashtanga, Hatha, Vinyasa, Slow Flow, Power, teaching to seniors, teaching children, and private lessons for beginners. I have also taught yoga to our military.
