Maria Kirsten

Maria Kirsten, MA, E-RYT500, and senior yoga teacher, has been teaching beginner's yoga in Lennox Head, NSW, since 2000. A certified Yogalates teacher, Maria is trusted by local physiotherapists, chiropractors and massage therapists as an experienced teacher to whom they can safely refer their clients. Maria teaches regular Beginner's Yoga classes at the Lennox Head Surf Club, works privately as a Yoga Therapist, and is currently studying Occupational Therapy through Southern Cross University.

Maria is committed to making yoga safe and accessible for everyone, especially people who thought they could never do yoga. Classes with Maria are anatomically and functionally based, very visual and fun. Students leave class feeling they understand their bodies, and feeling empowered to safely build strength and flexibility while cultivating their capacity to self regulate and relax.

As a lecturer in yoga asana, anatomy and therapy on several Yoga Teacher Training courses, Maria's mission in life is to prepare new teachers to teach safe classes that support the individuality and radiance of every student. Maria teaches teachers how to make the powerful poses and practices of yoga safe, simple and accessible to all. In response to the need for further anatomical and therapeutic training, she has collaborated with Sydney based teacher Judy Krupp to create an Extended Learning and Yoga Therapy course for new teachers. She also teaches anatomy based workshops in the Byron Bay area, and Yoga Therapy and Yoga for Seniors in Japan.
