I am a classically trained Yogi, having begun my Yoga-Vedanta studies in 1974, lived in an ashram (spiritual community) in Rochester, NY, Studied with Margaret (Shanti) Coble, meditation & Advaita philosophy, Rochester & Syracuse, NY 1974-80. I attended many weekends and retreats at Ananda Ashram, Monroe, NY with studies of Yoga psychology and eastern philosophy with Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati (1976-1989). I was certified by Shri Brahmananda in the World Yoga University International Teacher's Course in Yoga of 1977.
I studied Advaita (non-duality) with Ramesh S. Balsekar (1987), a close desciple of Shri Nisargatta Maharaj. I completed a Work/Scholar in Gestalt Therapy. Esalen Institute, Big Sur, California (1989). I attended seminars with Senior Iyenger teachers (1978-98) and TriYoga master Kali Ray 1990-99). I hold a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Certification (1991-92). I studied Pranayama and Hathapradipika with Dr. Tiwari in 2000. I have attended Seminars with T. K. V. Desikachar, Leslie Kaminoff, Thomas Myers 2001-04.
I am a former Board Member of the Yoga Alliance and a previous Board President of the Yoga Society of Rochester. I founded ABSOLUTE yoga & wellness in 1977.
Since 1993, my public yoga classes are most influenced by the work of Angela Farmer and Victor van Kooten and TKV Desikachar. Continuing to bring authenticity to my teaching and practice I annually study with some of the best senior teacher of Yoga, Eastern Healing Arts, Psychology and Philosophy.
