Mary Beth is daughter of Brenda Flemming, practitioner and teacher of Iyengar yoga for over thirty years in the Gunnison Valley. Born into a ‘yoga’ family Mary Beth has been practicing and studying yoga nearly the entirety of her life.
She began assisting her mother’s community and University courses at the age of ten and continued to intensify her study every since. Learning from senior teachers like Manouso Manos, Gabriella Jubilero, Sri Arun, Dean Leaner and more, the tradition of yoga is very dear to her heart.
At the age of 15 she began teaching her first yoga series called Yoga for Teens by Teens. She continues to assist in helping people to find freedom and alignment in their bodies through community classes, privates and by serving as an instructor on surf and health retreats and tours.
Her true passion is teaching kids! She started a yoga program for the Partners and mentorship program in Gunnison, CO and implemented the first yoga program in the rural South African village of Freimersheim, as a volunteer for the Surfer Kids Non-profit. She also teaches on yoga/surf retreats for Unravel Surf Travel located out of the Garden Route, South Africa.
Currently living on the Big Island of Hawaii, Mary Beth teaches youth yoga for a variety of different camps, elderly folk care and living, is starting a family yoga program for low-income home communities in Hilo and aims to be venturing into the jail systems in the fall to teach yoga stress reduction techniques.
