Mary Beth (MB) has been exploring yoga as both a philosophy and physical practice since the early 1990s. Over the years she has practiced various styles of yoga and continues to study related arts and sciences with wonderful Western and Indian teachers. Since 2006 her personal practice has been focused on the classic Ashtanga Vinyasa system in the Mysore style of Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois. She studies with local teachers Magnolia Zuniga, Vance Selover, and Melanie Green along with many of the senior Ashtanga teachers at workshops and intensives around the world. This moving meditation practice is grounded in the Yoga Sutras and deeply informs the many facets of her life, especially as a mother, step-mother, and wife. She began sharing yoga with her friends and family and got her official teaching certificate in 2009 through Barefoot Movement and is now designated RYT 500 through Yoga Alliance.
As a way to build community with fellow students and connect the dots between our practice and our life she started a yoga book club in 2012 called Lit Up on Yoga intent on reading novels, memoirs and other non-fiction books that transmit deeper notions of yogic philosophy and concepts in a modern, accessible way.
