Mary Leslie Hartman has long been a fitness enthusiast. She began teaching group fitness at the age of 17 and went on to teach aerobics in both Savannah and Atlanta to help pay her way through college. Mary continued on to a 20 year career teaching fitness both in group classes and as a personal trainer. In 2011 Mary discovered yoga and never looked back. After a horse riding accident in 2013 she found Therapeutic Yoga and then Gentle Yoga to be the only thing to help her through the pain of a fractured vertebrae and a ruptured disc and get her on the road to recovery. Through her experience with health issues Mary has found the importance of a healthy diet and loves to pass on her knowledge and experience. Mary is certified 200 hours through The Yoga Alliance Teacher Training and is also a certified Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer through ACE (American Council on Exercise) and YMCA National Fitness Certification. Mary has enjoyed a long and successful career as a professional artist and when not in the Yoga studio she can usually be found in her art studio or with her family on their farm, photographing, painting or just messing around with their menagerie of furry and feathered friends.

She's a joy!

I've been doing yoga with Mary Leslie for over a year and she has always been a positive influence in our classes. She pushes us to do more than we thought we could, but she also gives less strenuous options if we don't feel up to the challenge. Her concern is that we stay safe and become more fit. Her classes are always peaceful and enjoyable.

Great teacher and nice person

Mary and I go back many years when we met here in Madison. She's one of the nicest and talented people you ever will meet on this journey of life. Her classes are challenging, and refreshing at the same time. If that's possible...it exists in her class. She is very friendly and is able to blend first timers into her classes and encourages you to focus on listening to your own body and safety. There are many facets to Yoga above and beyond just the physical practice itself. Mary always has a smile and a kind word for everyone she meets....whether in her class or in everyday life. This attests to being a great teacher. I look forward to continuing to practice Yoga with Mary and to watch her growth.

Excellent Teacher

I have had the pleasure of doing yoga with Mary for the last two years. Recently we completed Yoga Teacher Training together, and now we are teaching yoga at the same studio. I have been attending her CardioYoga class - and I'm HOOKED! Mary's class is a mixture of power yoga combined with some aerobics to help you not just lengthen and strengthen, but firm and tone, too! Her friendly demeanor and encouraging directions help keep you pushing through and focusing on staying in the moment of your yoga workout. I highly recommend trying Mary's classes!
