May became a practising Vajrayana Buddhist as a 16 year old, and picked up yoga with a Sivanada class at the age of 25 to supplement meditation. Venturing into her 30s she was diagnosed with Graves Hyperthyroidism, bent nasal passage and chronic rhinitis caused by several allergies, making her a self-taught expert in stress resilience. Having been a law graduate, school teacher, human rights master graduate, charity intern and then personal assistant to busy directors in the was inspired to combine the skills she acquired through years of yoga, meditation and Buddhist way of life to bring a gentle and therapeutic gift of healing to others.

In September 2014 May attended Zenways 200 hours Zen Yoga Teacher Training with Daizan Roshi; which covered the foundations of teaching hatha yoga from a Buddhist philosophy, yoga nidra, spontaneous yoga, Ki or life force energy via meridians and Zazen meditation. As she took one day leave from the course to complete a half-marathon charity walk, she later completed the rest of her teacher training with Charlotte Esme Turner (via Zenways) and even got to teach several of Charlotte's classes whilst being observed in June 2015 (photos). She became fully qualified on 30th July 2015 and is registered for RYT200 with the Yoga Alliance.

May founded 'The Cat Pose' in December 2014, inspired whilst practising this simply effective posture to soothe tension, restore normality in the spine and rejuvenate well as her great love for cats. She has chosen to focus on teaching not more than 7 sessions a week and spends the rest of her time working on her blog 'Walking in May'. May's teaching style incorporates aspects of Zen living mindfulness, Vajrayana meditative visualisation, and use of mantra vibrations as well as mudra energy. Since starting to teach (from early 2015) she has gathered experience in teaching students with Hyperthyroidism, back pain, and cancer recovery. She advocates breathing, openess in spirituality, achieving harmony through gentleness and making first steps towards living a mindful life.
