I am a student and teacher of the Ashtanga tradition in Austin, Texas, specializing in the treatment and prevention of yoga-related injury while remaining true to the method as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and his long-time disciples. My primary interests personally and professionally lie in sustainable practice, natural health, and authentic, connected living.
Born and raised in the Midwest, I am an honorary Texan and an Austinite at heart. For me, the seeds of yoga were planted early. As a quiet, introverted child, I would often retreat to the basement of my parents' house and explore the connection between breath and sensation in secret on the dusty floor. My study of the breath continued through my childhood and adolescence as an equestrian, runner, and vocal performer, which eventually led to experimentation with asana practice at the age of sixteen. Though I did not begin my practice in earnest until 2006, the thread of yoga has been a constant in my life.
My own experience continues to prove that daily yoga practice is a powerful catalyst for personal transformation and a readily available source of peace and strength. It is my intention to inform and inspire this practice in others so that we may uplift ourselves and each other, and through our practice, save the world.
